It’s time for some football. As always I like to make my predictions and this year I start with the NFC. There are really aren’t too many surprises but I will say that I’m not excited about the Eagles or the Cardinals. Those teams will struggle. Tampa Bay and Carolina are intriguing but the biggest question mark is reserved for the NFC North. What will injuries do to the Vikings? Are the Bears really primed for a move? Is Detroit better than they…well, how could the be any worse?

It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve posted a ranking and several things have come to a head. In week 11 I had the Vikings at No. 1 and since then they’ve lost 2 of their 3 games. That is enough to drop them a few notches. The Saints, who have been in the top three all year, are now my number one team. The Colts are still two but the Chargers have charged to the top three.

We are not starting to see some definitive separation between the top 5 and bottom five of the rankings. But the interest is in the play of the 2nd tier teams. The Chargers are make their first appearance in the Top Ten this week and a win over the Denver Broncos this Sunday should place them in the driver’s seat to win the division.

bensonIt is getting real interesting in the NFL. There is not a lot of movement at the top of the charts but there is certainly some movement in the center. The Denver Broncos have lost 2 in a row and we might as well start the downgrade now. It took me some time to place them in the Top Ten but it won’t be long before they are out of it.

After missing a week I am back with the rankings. Many questions have been answered and I have finally come to the place where I have no choice but to accept the rise of the Dallas Cowboys.

What a difference a week makes. Last week I thought the Eagles and the Jets still had some potential and the Patriots were on the wrong side of playing good football. Well, all of that has changed and now some reassessment is in order once again.

After five weeks, it’s time to shake up the rankings just a little. There are teams that I have been a little too hard on and others I’ve forgiven their misdeeds because of past achievements. But true objectivity is in order to ensure that my rankings maintain their credibility.
