Watch any action movie and you’ll see the following formula: hero first depicted as ordinary or as a louse; a call to action after hero is wronged by villain, final scene and hero wins the battle, the girl all while achieving self-actualization. Clash of the Titans followed the formula with perfection and tossed in some cool graphics for good measure but left everything that makes a movie worth watching on the cutting room floor. Overall, this appears to be a movie for those who know what they’re getting into: a somewhat predictable comedy with some nice scenery and funny lines. And after his last two movies set during the holidays — “Fred Claus” and “Four Christmases” — Vince Vaughn fans will probably be happy to just spend a little time in the sun with him and his buddies.
I saw Tyler Perry’s, ‘I Can Do Bad All By Myself’ last weekend and you can almost say the same thing about that movie. It was predictable …

Seyfried makes a sassy counterpoint to Fox. But amid the bloody assaults, undeveloped, broadly drawn characters (J.K. Simmons as a teacher) and the girl-on-girl action tossed in just for the fanboys, this film from the once-promising director of Girlfight wanders into the Don’t Care Zone. Clever one-liners don’t cover the cruelty here. Jennifer is shallow. The movie about her is, too. At least they got the title right. …
