It’s time for some football. As always I like to make my predictions and this year I start with the NFC. There are really aren’t too many surprises but I will say that I’m not excited about the Eagles or the Cardinals. Those teams will struggle. Tampa Bay and Carolina are intriguing but the biggest question mark is reserved for the NFC North. What will injuries do to the Vikings? Are the Bears really primed for a move? Is Detroit better than they…well, how could the be any worse?

after two weeks of mostly mediocre practice reports, at least one dreadful scrimmage and a growing concern over his mounting interception total, on a day when even reporters closest to the program reported all signs point to a healthy Corp reassuming the reins by the end of the week, it’s fairly stunning. No: Given the widespread assumptions after Barkley tanked his first scrimmage since Corp’s injury, it’s very stunning.

I never really understood why the Bears fans were so hard on Grossman. Sure he was inconsistent and a little erratic at time, but he took us to the Super Bowl – which we should have won if not for Lovie’s myopic use of the Cover 2 – and won a majority of his games as a starter. He has a stronger arm than Kyle Orton and I think plays much better when he’s playing with confidence.

This is certainly the most fluid of the categories. There are several current players that some day will rank among the best there ever were. Then there are the receivers that I loved as a child that don’t have the stats that warrant a top ten pick. Lynn Swann is one and how do I leave off the Miami Dolphins receiving tandem of Mark Clayton and Mark Duper. But rather than go with my heart where the previous mentioned receivers would make the list, I’m going to giver greater weight …
