Playoff Preview Dodgers vs Cardinals
This is a very intriguing series on many levels. The Cardinals up until a recent slide were seen as the team to beat for much of the 2nd half of the season. The Dodgers were seen as the team to beat for the 1st half of the season. Back in July I said the Dodgers wouldn’t win the pennant, and I’m sticking with to my guns here. What needs to happen for each team
The Cardinals just need to stick with their plan get timely hitting and pitch like they did during the regular season. They have a great rotation and will throw Wainwright, and Carpenter in the first two games. For game 3 they will throw Joel Pinero who had a great season. If they get quality starts from these 3 guys the series could be over in 3 games. What concerns me the most about this team is their bullpen which started to come apart the final two weeks of the season. In order for them to win this series, and ultimately the pennant this needs to be corrected, and fast.
The Dodgers are in trouble, and here’s why who is going to pitch for them. They suffered quite a few injuries to their pitching staff, and the big question is who will pitch, and how effective can they be? It’s simple good pitching wins in the postseason. The Dodgers do have a formidable lineup, and if Manny Ramirez gets hot the Cardinals are in for a series. Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp need to step up big if the Dodgers are going to advance.
With all this being said the Cardinals are overall just a better team. The Dodgers just don’t match up well with them. I think St Louis wins this series easily.
