NFL Wildcard Playoff thoughts
Well one weekend is over in the NFL playoffs. Four teams moved on while another four went home. Here were some quick thoughts I had about each game
Jets 24 Bengals 14
1) This was a rough game for the Bengal faithful. There 1st playoff game in 4 years came to a end, and they went quietly into the good night. You have to wonder how much Chris Hnery’s death affected this team.
2) The Jets proved their worth although many people will without a doubt pick them to lose this weekend they don’t care. This team believes in themselves, and with the number 1 running game and defense why wouldn’t they.
3) Is Carson Palmer really an elite quarterback? One has to ask that question. Palmer was bad, and too me was a goat in the game. Had he been more accurate who knows what would have happened.
4) Darelle Revis is the truth. No doubt the best corner in the game.
5) Shayne “shank” Graham missed two big field goals for the Bengals. His misses killed his team, and ended any chance of a comeback.
Cowboys 34 Eagles 14
1) Dallas is for real and this team is peaking at the right time. They exercised the December demons, and now the playoff demons.
2) The Eagles go into an uncertain offseason. Will they bring back Mcnabb? Can they win a championship with Andy Reid at the helm? To be honest I can’t answer any of these questions.
3) Way to go Andy Reid 40 passes to 10 runs. You sure did do a good job of slowing down that Dallas pass rush.
4) Felix Jones is becoming a star before our eyes. Pretty 73 yard touchdown dagger to finish off the Eagles
5a) Tony Romo has done a great job these past 4 weeks has he matured in front of our eyes?
5b) Was this Brian Westbrook’s last game in Philly? If it was it makes me a little sad. Great player that could not stay healthy. I wish him a healthy 2010.
Ravens 33 Patriots 14
1) Talk about a statement game scratch that a statement play. Did you see Ray Rice’s 83 yard touchdown on the 1st play of the game? That sent a statement that Baltimore was ready to play.
2) Bill Bellicheck’s arrogance cost New England this game. The moves he has made to cut players and replace them finally caught up with him on Sunday. They sure could have used Richard Seymour and Mike Vrabel yesterday.
3) Baltimore rocked and socked New England yesterday. Baltimore beat them in all 3 phases of the game offense, defense, and special teams. To be polite this game wasn’t even that close. New England flat out just got punked.
4) Tom Brady played a stink game yesterday. His 4 turnovers led to 17 Baltimore points. One has to wonder if it’s the line or his knee injury from last year. I happen to believe it’s a little of both.
5) Joe Flacco has to complete more than 4 passes next week for this team to have a chance against Indy.
Cardinals 51 Packers 45
1) Simply out the most electrifying game that I’ve seen in a few years.
2) This game was a football purist nightmare the 96 points between both teams were the most in NFL Playoff history.
3) Aaron Rodgers you have no reason to hang your head kid you played a hell of a game. There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that Green Bay made the right decision when they let you take over.
4) Kurt Warner I know you will most likely retire before the end of the year, but man I can’t help but to think you still have at least 1 more year left. Concussions are serious so I understand why you will leave. That being said I’ve never seen you better.
5) Larry Fitzgerald is a hell of a receiver, but guess what so is Donald Driver and Greg Jennings. Kudos to Early Doucett and Steve Breaston for stepping up in the absence of Anquan Boldin.

I am glad to see the “Patriots Mystique” laid to rest. No more Brady-Crush dialogue. The Cowboys look like the team to beat. They played great defense and the offense is well balanced.
The Jets did well but I suspect they’ll see their demise next week against San Diego.
