When is Enough Enough

I don’t know how many of you out there watched last Fridays Cavs vs. Bulls game? If you watched it you probably have an opinion on what took place. Here is my take on what happened.

The Cavs were winning a division game, and had busted the game open midway through the 3rd quarter. The Cavs the whole game were back at their childish antics which you saw for all of 2008-2009 season. These antics in the past have included a lot of unnecessary celebrating. However they took these antics to a new low on Friday night.

Basketball is a game of emotion, and I have no beef when a player celebrates after a big play. However, what the Cavs did was not in good fun it was bad sportsmanship. After, making big plays they began to dance. The dancing continued throughout the game. It got worse, and worse from the Bulls perspective as their deficit grew. Early in the 4th quarter Joakim Noah had enough, and he said something to James. Evidently James took offense, and approached the Bulls bench. You can say the rest is history.

Nothing bad happened once James approached the bench, but it should have. Had this been the 1980’s or the early 1990’s James would have been punched, and rightfully so. He is a bad sport, and proved this by not shaking the hands of the Orlando Magic who beat them in the playoffs. After the game James said “He didn’t get what the big deal was they were having fun.” The big deal is you constantly show up your opponents, but not in a good way.

Lebron James needs to grow up, and fast. He like many other young athlete’s believe they are entitled to respect, but refuse to dish it out. Like last year I have a strong suspicion that James and his men will get their comeuppance come playoff time. When this happens again one can only hope James, and his teammates can accept the Karma of their own doing with grace.

Lebron James has some more maturing to do. But if you think about it, Shaq should have been the one to put an end to it but he was an enabler. It just goes to show you that the Cavs have almost-championship talent (because they won’t win an NBA Championship with that team) but they lack something inside as well.
